Installation of the monitoring station in Oxford & Sawong

 In News

In spring/summer 2018 the monitoring stations Oxford and Sawong were installed. The former is located about 40km as the crow flies outside the KNP on the Olifants River. A building was already available for the accommodation of the equipment. The pump and the corresponding pipes have been mounted or installed. In addition, protections have been erected to resist attacks by wildlife. Two further measuring stations have been installed at the Sawong station, directly at the confluence of the Olifants and Selati rivers. For this purpose, a small building has been erected especially for the two measuring instruments and other equipment. The installation was similar to that at the Oxford station. From now on, automated water quality measurements will be carried out regularly at all stations. Among others, toxicity, COD, temperature, pH and conductivity are considered.
